Canada Canon USA is pleased to announce its warranty policy for the new imagePROGRAF print-head, PF03. The PF03 printhead is compatible with all current imagePROGRAF series large format printers: iPF5000/8000/9000/500/600/700, and the recently announced iPF6100/5100 printers. Canon USA's period of limited warranty coverage for the PF03 print-head: Warranty coverage lasts until the internal machine count for ink drops reaches 10E12 or 1 year after date of purchase, whichever occurs first. The warranty does not cover damage to the printhead resulting from use of supplies or parts (other than those distributed by Canon) which damage the Printhead or cause abnormally frequent service calls or service problems. Complete terms, conditions and limitations are contained in the Canon imagePROGRAF printhead limited warranty covering the PF03 printhead. To ensure maximum performance and life of your printhead, Canon recommends the use of Canon branded media and genuine Canon ink. How is 10E12 determined? The imagePROGRAF will count the number of ink drops passed by the printhead. 10E12 represents approximately 10 trillion ink drops applied through the printhead to the media. When converted to actual prints, we estimate 10 trillion ink drops will produce approximately 2,200 A2 size (17"x24") prints or 1,100 A1 size (24"x36") prints, with 12.5% each of color duty. These numbers may vary depending on a number of factors such as the type of image processed, media, settings and profiles. Your results may be different based on these and other factors. How do you determine if your PF03 printhead is under warranty? First verify that your printhead is less then one year old. Check your receipt for when the iPF or printhead was purchased. If you are within the one year warranty period the next step would be to determine the ink drop count. This can be accomplished by accessing "STATUS PRINT". Under the "STATUS PRINT" displayed on your PC you will find a HEAD LOT NUMBER, if the last digit of the HEAD LOT NUMBER is "A", the printhead is still under warranty. If the last digit is "B" or higher in the alphabet, the ink drop count equals or exceeds 10E12 and your warranty has expired. Instructions for accessing "STATUS PRINT" are located on the Canon USA web site. This download is located under the "Drivers & Downloads" Tab of each iPF printer section. How do I go about getting a replacement PF03 printhead under warranty? Please contact our customer support center at 1-800-423-2366. One of our customer support agents will help you confirm if you have a print-head problem and if your print-head is under warranty, including helping you access "STATUS PRINT" and "HEAD LOT NUMBER." If the printhead is under warranty and is diagnosed as needing to be replaced, a replacement printhead will be sent to the customer, together with prepaid packaging for the customer to send the defective printhead back to Canon USA within 30 days of receiving the replacement printhead. In order to so ship the replacement printhead based on the customer's commitment to send the defective printhead back to Canon USA, the customer will be required to furnish the customer support agent with credit card information to be used to charge the customer for the replacement printhead in the event the customer fails to timely send back the defective printhead in the prepaid packaging furnished. If you purchased a PF03 print-head before June 1, 2007: For customers who purchased a PF03 printhead before June 1, 2007, the date of purchase for warranty purposes will be deemed to be June 1, 2007, and you are eligible for warranty services for your PF03 printhead until June 1, 2008, provided that the print status indicated on your HEAD LOT NUMBER ends in "A" at the time of a warranty claim. For PF01, and PF02 printhead users: Customers who have a PF02 or PF01 printhead installed and have warranty questions please contact the Canon call center at 1-800-423-2366. One of our customer support agents will assist you.
